I guess that all of us at one time or another have wanted to own something that is the absolute best of its type in the world. Few of us however can really afford that Rolls or Ferrari we desire. While wandering around the New York Boat Show I found an item that fits into the "absolute best" category. While it is a bit more expensive than its competition, this item is so far out front that there is no second place.
What is this goodie, you ask? It is a burgee holder that fits onto your bow rail, and is manufactured and sold by LGM Tooling Co.,Inc.
"The Original Swiveler Flagpole" is beautifully hand machined from stainless steel and aluminum, exquisitely finished, and easy to install in five minutes or less.
Unlike its counterparts, it is not a hollow tube that bends in the wind. The staff is solid stainless. You couldn't bend it if you tried!
It attaches to the bow rail via a pair of finely machined aluminum pieces that really fit snugly on any standard sized rail. In addition, there is a "clamping screw" that makes it virtually impossible to twist in high wind, unlike any of its competition. The aluminum is anodized for corrosion protection and all hardware is also stainless.
The clamps are machined to fit rails 1/2" through 1 1/2" diameter perfectly. The neatest thing however, are the swivels that keep the burgee from wrapping around the staff. No flimsy wired clips here. The stainless swivels attach to the burgee on both sides and are secured with a stop nut (stainless, of course.) The burgee will actuall spin around the staff 360 degrees, keeping it from wrapping itself around the pole.
The standard model fits 12" flags. They also offer a pole that fits 12", 14" and 16" flags, and one that fits 20" and 24" flags. Even if you don't have a bow rail, LGM Tooling., Inc. offers an anodized aluminum deck mount at no additional cost.
The Swiveler is guaranteed for a full five years unconditionally! If for any reason during this period you are not satisfied, your money will be refunded. Not many guarantees like that around. When I saw this product at the show, I simply could not walk away without taking one home, knowing I "had the best".
